Stop Motion in the Ocean
Tried out the stop motion puppet animation practise today. God does it take a long time, but it felt almost meditative. I got 2 takes of key frames done, didn’t get a chance to do my in-betweens but i feel like the ‘feel’ is still there.
Starting to animate has made me realised how much I love the ‘staring blankly into the camera’ trope. So simple yet so effective…
On my second take I tried to lean even more into the weight of the ball, and made some more adjustments, such as having the character drag it along the floor before picking it up. Unfortunately, clumsy buffoon that I am, I knocked the tripod with my foot, and so there’s a frame change part way through. The again, maybe every stop motion animator needs to experience this pain and it makes you stronger? Good to get it over with on my first attempt, I must be safe now.
